It’s an axiom of advertising and copywriting that people do business with those they know, like, and trust. If your business exists online, your website is the place where “know, like, and trust” starts, and you want your WordPress theme to help that process along.
The Digital Pro theme, from StudioPress, bills itself as a theme with a friendly style.
Standard StudioPress features include:
- Mobile responsive
- HTML5
- Fast page load times
- Secure
- Optimized for search
- Great typography
- Flexible, widget-based front page layout
Front Page
The front page starts with a hero image at the top.
The company’s demo uses black and white photographs throughout, but you can make your site look much more welcoming with the use of color. (Maybe it’s just me, but I always feel like color is friendlier.) Here’s an example of another site using Digital Pro.
Below the hero image are four separate widgetized areas. The first widget area is always full width, but as with other recent StudioPress themes, you can set up other widgetized areas in many different ways, depending on how many widgets you install. What’s particularly interesting about this theme, is that areas 2 and 3 are different.
For example, if you install 4 widgets in Area 2, they’ll display as two columns, like this:
Those same 4 widgets in Area 3, though, will look completely different.
Below the three widgetized areas is the Content Section, which displays your latest blog posts.
Page Templates
Choose from three page templates:
- Blog page
- Landing page
- Archive page
Menus
Digital Pro includes two navigation menus, one at the top and one at the bottom.
The header menu displays to the right of the site title. This navigation is always visible at the top of the page, no matter how far down the reader scrolls.
The footer menu shows just above the footer area (it’s not used in the demo, so this one is from Marc Holzman’s site, shown above).
Colors
Digital Pro gives you a color customizer for selecting the precise accent color you want. To access it, navigate to Appearance / Customize / Colors.
Layout Options
Standard layout options include right sidebar, left sidebar, and full-width pages. As with most themes from this company, set your sitewide preferences at Genesis / Theme Settings. You can override it on individual pages and posts.
There’s also the option to create columns within any layout, by using the custom CSS class shortcode.
Another CSS class, intro, allows you to customize the look of the first paragraph.
Widgetized Areas
We’ve already talked about the front page. Other widgetized areas include:
- Primary sidebar
- 3 Footer widgets
- After entry
The after entry area displays after a single post and before the post comments, and is a good spot for an opt-in form, marketing message, or recent posts.
Pricing
As with all StudioPress themes, you must use the Genesis Framework as well as the child theme (in this case, Digital Pro). If you’re a new customer, the price for both is $99.95. (Click here to read more about frameworks and child themes.)
Or, if you already own the Genesis Framework and you’re a returning customer, pay only $33.71.
