Issue #38

Last time I wrote to you was after the Great Chainsaw Awakening, which led to a no good, very bad day. However, I’m happy to say most of my 10 weeks in Panama were really, really good.
I’ve been home for a few days now, already missing the warmth (it’s been in the 30s every night since I got back), and the ocean. Yes, I have a pleasant front yard, but it just can’t compare.
I didn’t get as much writing done during my 10-week winter hiatus in Panama as I wanted to, but what I did was good, if I do say so myself. My days developed a different rhythm than they have at home, and that’s a spur to creativity.
I’ve also learned that I’m more creative when I’m not constricted by layer upon layer of clothing.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve really flexed my work-from-anywhere muscles (thanks a lot, Covid!), so it was nice to be reminded of why I set up my business and my life to be able to do that.
And here’s a huge side benefit: cost. My 10 weeks, including airfare, transportation within the country, lodging, food (which included a lot of meals out), and incidental expenses worked out to just about $200 per week.
Yes, you read that right. Two hundred dollars per week. Heck, I can hardly afford to stay home for that!
What are your plans to work from elsewhere?
The picture above was my “office” view every afternoon. Not bad!

Ever wondered where the best airports are?? Well, wonder no more.
Every year, Skytrax publishes a list of the best airports in the world. Here are their top 20. And, in case you’re wondering, only one US airport made the list, at spot #18. That’s SEATAC. . .
The top 10 were all in Asia and Europe (Asia grabbed the first four spots!)
Want to live in Spain? Good news – they’ve just formalized their new digital nomad visa. They call it the International Teleworking Visa, and it comes with an income requirement from freelancing of at least 2334 Euros/month.
Here are all the details, with instructions on how to apply.

In most of the US, we’ve just flipped back to Daylight Savings Time. Is that something you love?
No, I didn’t think so.
So what do you think about keeping DST year-round? I’ve seen tons of articles about why it’s healthier for us to live on Standard Time (to which I reply, pshaw!), so for balance, here are some excellent reasons why year-round DST should be goal. From a professor at the University of Washington.
